Finding the Missing SharePoint 2013 Slide Library
The Slide Library is not listed as an "App" or displayed in the old Create.aspx page (_layouts/create.aspx). But… you can still get it with a direct URL. I would not depend on it being there forever as the Slide Library is officially not in 2013, but for now you can create one.
The direct URL to create the old Slide Library:
http://yourserver/sites/yoursite/_layouts/15/slnew.aspx?FeatureId={0be49fe9-9bc9-409d-abf9-702753bd878d}&ListTemplate=2100
Update 11/9/12: I just tested the Office 365 (2013) Preview and it works there too!
Update 04/5/16: I just tested the Office 365 (current) and SP 2016 and it works there too!

Great Post, I have been looking for this.
me too - thank you
Great! Thank you very much!!!
Do you know if there is any way to add this Slide Library template into a SharePoint-hosted app from within Visual Studio? I can get close by setting TemplateType="2100" and FeatureId="0be49fe9-9bc9-409d-abf9-702753bd878d" on a new ListInstance, but I can't seem to open it as a Slide Library from within PowerPoint.
Super! Thanks :)
Nice, thanks a lot. I looked for it and didn't find it in 2013. Do you think it is also possible to get the Meeting spaces back the same way? I know that they will not be there in SP2015 any more, but for now it would be really nice...
Christian,
Probably. I know you can from PowerShell. If you are using SP 2013 on premise then you can create a 2010 site collection from Central Admin then create sites based on the old templates.
Mike
Christian,
Just checked... you can can create them from a 2010 site collection.
You make them available in 2013 with this: http://sharepointmws.codeplex.com/
Or from PowerShell:
New-SPWeb http://maxsp2013wfe/sites/demo3/meeting -Template "MPS#0" -Name "Meeting Test"
The template IDs are:
MPS#0 Basic Meeting Workspace
MPS#1 Blank Meeting Workspace
MPS#2 Decision Meeting Workspace
MPS#3 Social Meeting Workspace
MPS#4 Multipage Meeting Workspace
Mike
That was beautiful. You saved me a lot of headaches. Thank You!!
I'ts work, but several options are disabled. Do you have a solution?
I can't move a item for a subfolder, for example.
Thanks!!
Has anyone had any success in actually publishing slides to these libraries?
I get an error message every time which states;
N out of N slides that were being published to URL failed. Try publishing again.
RS_1,
Just did some testing on a range of versions:
PowerPoint 2010 -> SP 2010 (works)
PowerPoint 2010 -> SP 2013 (works)
PowerPoint 2010 -> SP 2016 (works)
PowerPoint 2010 -> Office 365 (works)
PowerPoint 2013 -> all of the above (same error as yours)
Inserting slides from SharePoint into PowerPoint worked from all versions of the above into both PPT 2010 and 2013.
I'm guessing that this is a bug in PPT 2013.
I don't have Office 2016 installed on this machine for testing...
If your SharePoint is on your intranet, take look at this discussion about mapping a drive, especially towards the end: https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/1880713a-945a-4fce-a5a6-b5fef842f2b1/cant-publish-slides-from-powerpoint-2013-to-sharepoint-2010-slide-library?forum=sharepointgeneralprevious
Make sure you are using a 32 bit version of both Office and Internet Explorer.
Here are the publishing steps for PPT 2010: https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Use-Slide-Libraries-to-share-and-reuse-PowerPoint-slides-C419E77F-8A94-4FC1-A7F0-F5E6CDD7E419#bm1

Hi Mike,
Can you please re-upload the link how to create slide library in SP 2013? Thank you.
Anonymous,
Upload what link? What happens when you use the link in the article? Error message?
You just need to modify the URL for your site. This is the sample link from above:
http://yourserver/sites/yoursite/_layouts/15/slnew.aspx?FeatureId={0be49fe9-9bc9-409d-abf9-702753bd878d}&ListTemplate=2100
If your site is at https://sharepoint.corpserver.local/sites/testing/sub1 then the link would would be something like:
https://sharepoint.corpserver.local/sites/testing/sub1/_layouts/15/slnew.aspx?FeatureId={0be49fe9-9bc9-409d-abf9-702753bd878d}&ListTemplate=2100
Mike
Thank you. it works.
I got the link to work but when I try to hit create to make the slide library I get an "invalid list template" error. Is there a setting I need to change within my site, or am I screwed?
Jocelyn,
If you are using SharePoint Online/Office 365, SharePoint 2016 or maybe even SharePoint 2013 after a recent update you may find that Microsoft has put some additional work into disabling this feature.
Also, you must be using PowerPoint 2010 to get this older feature to work.
Mike
Recently changed my office 2016 to monthly channel. With the recent Sept 11th Update (Version 1808 (Build 10730.20102)), the option to update linked slides has been removed and it no longer checks for updates. I had to revert to Semi annual build to get back to Version 1803 (Build 9126.2282 Click to Run) and it works again
Anyone found a replacement for Sharepoint libraries?
We have been using your link for some time -- thanks so much for providing it. We initially had problems with uploading slides from PPT 2013 (which makes sense) but we did one thing that works:
1. Create the slide library with the link.
2. Use the Open with Windows Explorer link > navigate to desired presentation and open it > right click on desired slide in thumbnails on the left and select Publish Slides...
3. In Slide Library, refresh the page and slides will display.
Now we just have a problem on how to use the template you can make with the library -- it will load in List Template Gallery but is not visible under Add an App -- any thoughts on that?
